Winnipeg:

record stores:
into the music (mc dermot in the heart of the exchange district)
music trader (3 locations, corydon, osbourne, university of manitoba)

thrift stores:
low end:
value village (i think theres 5 or six of them... if youre in winnipeg and you want to know where they all are, contact me!)
salvation army (even better than VV cause things are cheaper and theres more of them in the city.
higher end:
star vintage (on corydon, higher prices, have alot of cool stuff though.. i got my grad dress there)
ragpickers (again, a little over priced, used to be run by this super eccentric lady, and used to have a wicked selection of vintage books, but i havent been there in years. also on mcdermot)

good places to eat:
vegan/vegetarian themed:
the mondragon (all vegan run by a collective, Junto anarchist library run upstairs, great bookstore in the back, on albert street)
delicious (all vegan cantonese and chinese food.. SO GOOD, on pembina)
theres a place called affinity or something? but i've never eaten there..
non vegan, but still good food
charisma (ranges from everything from fried chicken, to some of the best east indian food i've ever had.. best samosas in town, hands down, and they make a mean pizza, too, on sherbrook)
bar italia (kind of a yuppie scene place, but a few predominant scene gurus have been known to hang out there, heck, one of em even works there!.. they have really good food and great coffee and pool tables, on corydon)

things to do:
museum of man and nature/ touch the universe (the museum has some of the most amazing displays you will ever see and touch the universe has all the hand on type sciency stuff.. something like $20 will get you into both for the whole day, and you can take any major bus route there, on main)
harry's foods (best dumpstering in the city, known for throwing out palets of day old fruit thats still in perfect condition, boxes upon boxes of dry goods, and anything that has an inperfect label/ container, on portage)
riding bikes (the whole city is practically flat, so riding around is easy/ not too strenuous.. there was a critical mass bust up last year, so not many people are involved in that anymore)

show places
the albert (proably the dirtiest, most punk as fuck bar in the city.. the regulars are known for getting up on stage and drunkenly dancing/ dropping their pants, on albert street)
the hoarger (im not sure if theyre still going to be living there come january, or even doing shows cause the guy who booked all of them is moving out, but they probably still will, on sherbrook)
the zoo/ ozzies (another one of those grosssss bars.. amature stripper night is a must! on osbourne)

Aggie (aggiecore) says:
"and as i have offered many times, i am totally willing to put people up. we have a futon in the living room, and im sure i can get air mattresses from my gramma too, cause shes a rad lady, and i will make gnocci for any travelling band! xoxoxo
