Record Stores :
balcony lights - 4800 south maryland parkway, ste. k
(702)228-2763
run by the friendliest people in town (frank and karoline defrancesco), this record store is all about community,
and d.i.y. culture. one of few places in town worth going. also one of the best places to see shows in town.
big b's - accross the street from balcony lights
like the mtv2 of independent record stores. this place has a massive used cd selection, and competitive prices.
however the smiling faces and kind words are fewer and further between than balcony lights.
Places To Eat :
long life veggie - 4130 S Sandhill Road #4, at Flamingo
702-436-4488
chinese food restaurant that serves mostly vegan friendly foods. the only meat they prepare is fish, i believe.
try the lemon chicken!!!
disorder diner - on maryland parkway between tropicana and flamingo, across from unlv.
in the same shopping center as fedex/kinkos. sorry i don't have more info on this place.
the word on the street is they serve vegetarian friendly food as well as the regular meat type foodstuffs.
i haven't been there, but i will be going there soon and i believe it might be worth checking out.
villa pizza - various locations around town.
the closest thing you'll get to new york style pizza in vegas. 12 bucks for a large cheese pie. damn good too!
casino diners - all over the freakin' place
if you find the right casino diner, you can get yourself a rather filling(if not enjoyable)
plate of breakfast foods for 99 cents. wicked cheap! touring bands usually get excited for this when they're not vegan.
usually not vegetarian/vegan friendly, though.
the roadhouse - a venue in a rundown casino. does all ages shows, mostly midsize to bigger bands.
not my kinda joint. serves alchohol.
the liberace museum - tivoli gardens, on tropicana avenue between eastern and maryland parkway.
it's a museum devoted to liberace. lets see your town pull off something as absurd as this shit!
lake mead - it's the big freakin' lake to the south of everything. it's green, man made, and gnarly.
swimming and cliff diving abound on hot summer days.
the strip - las vegas boulevard
the kind of place worth going if there is absolutely nothing else to do. it's a better time at night,
during the day it's a little too hot. things to do here include:
gamble
talk shit to meatheads
get beat up by meatheads
visit gameworks and play some video games
look at stupid shit
ride the moving walkways in front of bally's
the desert - all over the place
this is not a place i would reccomend going unless you've got a good sense of direction,
and/or are a regular hiking type. bring water, and try to find worthwhile views of the city,
weird shit left all over the place, dead bodies and snakes.
